Abstract

Headings H2E and H2H] A power distribution installation includes a mains-connected terminal structure provided with one or more sockets into each of which a flexible member can be plugged. At its remote end, each flexible member has a distribution unit with one or more socket outlets and an associated overload cut-out device. In the embodiment shown, a plug 11, with current-carrying contacts 6 and an earth contact 7, is insertable into a socket 1 in a termina post, Fig. 1 (not shown). The plug is connected by a flexible lead 13 to a distribution unit 12 which includes a magneto-thermal cut-out device and two sockets taking different-sized plugs. Fig. 6 shows a plug 11 engaged in a socket 1. A pin 24 on the plug causes rockers 28, 29 to rotate under the control of springs 25 so that live contacts 17 engage the plug contacts 6, and a pin 22 locks the plug 11 in the socket. To release the plug, a button (21), Fig. 9 (not shown), is depressed to turn back the rockers 28, 29 and eject the plug to a position in which the live contacts are disconnected while the earth contacts of the plug and socket are still in engagement.
