[Also in Group XXXVI] A mounting frame for an electric instrument comprises a base 1 to which is removably secured a frame 4 carrying the instrument block 3 and having two guide-tubes 7 engaging pillars 6 on the base 1, matching between members 1, 4 being provided by the engagement of spacers 5<SP>1</SP> on the frame 4 with dowel pins 10 on the base 1. The block 3 carries an insulating member 11 slidable between uprights 2 on the base 1 and having contact-strips 14 engaging strips 22 on a movable insulating member 12, the strips 22 normally engaging strips 21 on a fixed insulating member 20 to connect the block 3 to terminals 18. The member 12 is operated by an insulating member 13, upward movement of which to separate strips 21, 22 brings a shoulder 23 above the top of the uprights 2 and allows spring-urged plungers 24 housed therein to force the member 13 away from the member 12. In this position the instrument may be connected with a test circuit by inserting a test plug between members 12, 13, engagement of the shoulder 23 with the uprights 2 preventing downward movement of these members. Normally the ends 28 of the plungers 24 engage recesses in the member 11 to prevent removal of the latter (and hence the block 3) until members 12, 13 have been raised. Removal of the member 11 allows spring-urged detents 15 to engage the ends 28 and prevent lowering of the members 12, 13 until the member 11 has been replaced, after which a cover for the base 1 may be fitted in position.
