A circuit - breaker comprises a plurality of units each having a spherical gasfilled chamber 11 containing aligned contacts 13, 14 which are not in alignment with mounting means 12 which connect the units. The units may be arranged in a horizontal plane, not shown, or vertically, in which case they may be suspended by chains 19 Fig. 2, or mounted on an insulating base, Fig. 3 (not shown).
