Abstract

869,654. Oil-break switches. SOUTH WALES SWITCHGEAR Ltd., BUTTREY, R. N., and CIBOROWSKI, B. C. July 17, 1957 [May 2, 1956], No. 13601/56. Class 38 (5). A small-oil-volume circuit-breaker has a plate 12 supported by the housing insulator 1 and carrying both the fixed contact assembly 6 and the arc-control cross-jet device 2 in such a manner that the assembly 6 may be removed without disturbing the device 2. As shown, the device 2 is secured to plate 12 by bolts 8 and nuts 11, retain the assembly 6. If the assembly 6 is removed and the moving contact 4 is then moved to the closed position, its tip 5 is accessible for replacement or servicing. Alternatively the assembly 6 may be screwed directly into plate 12. The device 2 is shunted by a resistance connected to a contact 14 in sliding engagement with the moving contact 4 and to the contact 6 (Fig. 1, not shown).
