893,169. Knitting-machines. EMPISAL (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Sept. 22, 1958 [Sept. 22, 1957 ; Oct. 24, 1957], No. 30237/58. Class 74 (2). A needle selecting device independent of the primary cam slide is provided for a flat bed machine and is shaped to be mounted for traversing the needle bed. The device is provided with either a cam 34 adapted to select a bank of needles by engaging their butts as it is traversed along the needle bed, or with one of a number of toothed wheels 24 which rotates as the slide is traversed and depending on the length of the teeth makes a selection of needles accordingly.
