Abstract

793,122. Knitting-machines. LENGLET, J. F. Nov. 7, 1955 [Nov. 5, 1954], No. 31822/55. Class 74 (2). The fabric is held in position on a hand-operated straight-bar sliding-needle machine, without the use of take-down weights, by a plate 11 carried slidably on arms 12 borne by the cam carriage 1, and urged against the fabric by springs 15, and by two wheels 19 carried by a member 17 on the plate 11 and provided with teeth 21 which penetrate the last course of loops to engage between the teeth of the knocking- over comb 8, so that the wheels are rotated as the cam carriage moves. The upper faces of the teeth are bevelled at 22 and the wheels are so positioned as to engage the needles at points where they are being retracted and advanced. The wheels rotate in a plane substantially perpendicular to that of the fabric.
