Abstract

891,372. Valves. NEUE ARGUS G.m.b.H. Jan. 27, 1960 [Jan. 31, 1959], No. 2975/60. Class 135. A shut-off cock having a spherical plug 4 is centred within its housing 2 by means of guide bushes 3 and sealed by means of packing rings 7, urged into contact therewith by springs 9 acting against thrust rings 8, the packing rings being located in an annular space which increases in axial width from its inner diameter to its outer diameter, each annular space being limited in the axial direction by the surface of the spherical plug and by an oblique surface of the spring-loaded pressure ring, and in the radial direction by the inner periphery of the bore of the guide bush. The guide bushes, which may be screwed into the housing 2, may have their ends which contact the plug shortened and a ring of anti-friction metal or synthetic plastic such as polytetrafluoroethylene, interposed therebetween.
