Abstract

891,108. Filling containers. STORK & CO'S. APPARATENFABRIEK N.V. GEB. Sept. 5, 1960 [Sept. 5, 1959], No. 30564/60. Class 125(2). Apparatus for filling germ-free liquid, e.g. milk, into containers comprises a filling pipe 1 which communicates with the conveying pump 11 by means of a return pipe 4, 5 provided with a filling valve 2 at its lower end and with a return duct 8 which leads to the suction side of the pump. Outlets 3 are provided in the wall of the pipe 1, and bellows 6 enable the lower part of the return pipe to be raised to open the valve 2 by means of a pivoted arm 7. A regulable valve 9 is provided in the duct 8. After leaving the pump 11 the milk flows through a homogeniser 12, steriliser 13 and cooler 14. When the valve 2 is closed milk flows through the pipe 1 and back through the return pipe 4, 5 and the duct 8; with the valve 2 open a small part of the milk still takes that course. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the filling valve is opened by an increase in pressure above it due to the partial closing of a pneumatically-operated control valve in the return duct 8.
