Abstract

890,809. Washing-machines. A.E.I.-HOTPOINT Ltd. Feb. 5, 1960 [Feb. 11, 1959], No. 4831/59. Class 138 (2). Liquids having different characteristics, e.g. cold and hot water, are fed successively to, e.g. a washing-machine, having valve means responsive to the operation of pressure-responsive electric switches, for disconnecting one liquid feed and connecting the next liquid feed. With a temperature selecting switch 13 in its " warm " position W, a cold water valve solenoid 14 is energized until a pressure-responsive switch 9 is operated to energize a hot water valve solenoid 12 through a second pressure-responsive switch 8. When switch 8 is operated the hot water supply is cut off and e.g. a sequence timer (not shown) is energized. With switch 13 in its " hot " position H, only hot water is supplied. Switches 8 and 9 are mechanically linked for simultaneous adjustment by water level selecting means 10, but they are also individually adjustable.
