The intake air cleaner 27, 28 of a diesel engine is located in, and draws air from, a cooling air jacket space 20 fed by a flywheel fan 16 via a volute 15 of which the cleaner oil bath casing 27 is an upwardly tapering extension enclosing with all-round clearance a correspondingly tapered cleaner head 28 containing fibrous material.
