Abstract

883,635. Latches; sliding bolts. GILES & SONS Ltd., FREDERICK. July 17, 1959 [July 22, 1958], No. 23477/58. Class 44. [Also in Group XVIII] In a mortice lock having the conventional spring-loaded, cam-operated latch 7, an additional sliding bolt 13, T3a is provided which is controlled by a spring-loaded cam 14 and locked against inadvertent sliding movement by a spring-loaded pivoted lever 18. The latch 7 is operated by a handle 10 whilst the bolt 13 is controlled by a handle 16 which also positions an indicator plate 21 by means of a cam 20. The cam 20 is mounted on a member 23 which is slotted to permit unbolting of the door in emergencies.
