Abstract

822,296. Latches. LOCKS Ltd., and YOUNG, L. W. June 5, 1957 [June 5, 1956], No 17369/56. Class 44 A door latch includes a longitudinally sliding latch bolt 4 having an inclined striker face 9 and is rotatable about its axis through an angle of 180 degrees by a latch bolt operating member to bring about reversal of the inclined striker face in relation to the striker plate. As shown, the latch bolt is slidable against a spring 10 in a part 2 and includes a toothed portion 8 which engages a crack 6 slidable against a spring 11 in a body part 3, whereby upon outward movement of the rack by a pull on a knob 7 attached thereto, the latch bolt is rotated through 180 degrees, thus to reverse the position of its inclined face 9. The bolt is retracted into the body part 2 as the face 9 engages a striker plate (not shown).
