Abstract
878,602. Pipe couplings. BRONZAVIA S.A. May 20, 1960 [May 20, 1959 ; Jan. 28, 1960], No. 17879/60. Class 99(1). In a flexible connection for pipes, Fig. 1, cylindrical end pieces 1, 2 to which the pipes are secured are mounted on a sleeve 3 with interposition of toroidal packing rings 4 located in grooves in the sleeve 3 and a spherical bearing surface 6a and a flange 6b on halfsleeves 6 co-operate respectively with a spherical bearing surface 2b on the end piece 2 and with a shoulder on the end piece 1 so as to limit the spacing of the end pieces, a ring 7 being fitted on the half-sleeves to hold the latter in position. Holes 8 are provided in the ring 7 for the passage of a locking wire 9. In a modification, the sleeve 3 is fixed to a container and a flange on the half-sleeves 6 co-operate with a groove in the periphery of the sleeve. In a further modification, Fig. 3, pipes 11, 12 have expanded end edges 11a, 12a against which bear flanges 13, 15 with which co-operate respectively an end piece 2 and a sleeve 3, recesses being provided in the end piece and sleeve for locating toroidal packing rings 14, 16.
