Abstract

877,203. Pneumatic conveyers. FULLER CO. Nov. 2, 1959 [Dec. 23, 1958], No. 37116/59. Class 78 (1). A vessel 1 contains pulverent material A supported between sloping sheets 8, 81 and a porous deck 7 which slopes towards an aperture 16 leading to a discharge outlet 11. The aperture 16 is controlled by a valve 17 operated by a handle 22. The outlet 11 is connected by a conduit 13 to the space above the material A. The space beneath the sheets 8, 8<SP>1</SP> and deck 7 is connected at 10, 10<SP>1</SP> to pressure air which thus passes through, and fluidizes, the material A, and then passes down the conduit 13. A pipe 31 leading from the space below the sheet 8<SP>1</SP> is connected to a one-way valve 35 leading to atmosphere and to a manually-operable valve 33 connecting with atmosphere. The valve 35 opens to admit air, if under shut-down conditions, a vacuum forms in the vessel 1. The valve 33 is alternately opened and closed to enable changes in pressure to clear a stoppage in the outlet from the vessel. The conduit 13 is connected by a one-way valve to the space beneath the sheet 8. In a modification (Figs. 5-9, not shown), the outlet is taken from a position half-way along the length of the vessel. As shown, the vessel 1 is on skids 40, but it may be mounted on a road or rail vehicle. Specification 839,101 is referred to.
