Abstract

1303262 Pneumatic discharge of containers ZYRYANOVSKY SVINTSOVY KOMBINAT 16 Jan 1970 2235/70 Heading B8A [Also in Division F2] A device for supplying gas to the interior of a container for bulk material to assist the discharge thereof comprises a gas reservoir 1 provided with an outlet 2, which is closable by a valve member 4 connected by a rod 11 to a piston 10 in a cylinder 9. The chamber 8 beneath the piston 10 is connectable to atmosphere through a valve 12 and is connected by a pipe 14 to a pipe 13 connecting a gas pressure source to the reservoir 1. In operation, with the valve 12 closed, the supply of gas under pressure causes the valve 5 to close. The valve 12 is then opened for a short period thereby causing the valve 5 to open allowing gas to flow through the outlet 2 into the container. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the piston and cylinder 10, 9 are replaced by a flexible diaphragm. The outlet 2 is connected to a pipe extending to an aperture in the wall of the container or extending through the wall of the container into the material, the pipe being formed, in the latter case with spaced outlet nozzles and with branch pipes also formed with spaced outlet nozzles. Various arrangements and constructions of these pipes are described and illustrated.
