877,188. Coiling slivers &c. COURTAULDS Ltd. June 8, 1960 [June 9, 1959], No. 19663/59. Class 120(3) A plaiting machine for uniformly distributing tow into bins 24 comprises a sled 5 carrying tow delivery guides 23 on arms 22 and slidably mounted on rails 4 carried by a carriage 2 itself slidably mounted on rails 3 secured to the machine frame 1. The sled 5 and the carriage 2 are synchronously reciprocated on their rails by hydraulically reciprocated piston rods 18 and 20 respectively acting through a pair of taut cables 6 and 7, which pass over pulleys 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 101, 11<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP> and are anchored at adjusting screws 8 and 9, and a taut cable 16 anchored at the sled and the carriage and passing over a pulley 17.
