874,367. Delivery stopping in doubling machines; regulating yarn tension. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS Ltd. Aug. 24, 1959 [Aug. 20, 1958], No. 26805/58. Class 120(2) A pivoted cradle, which is balanced by the tension of supply yarns passed over or through it, is fixed to a sleeve rotatable on a fixed stud, the sleeve and stud having aligned holes or slots through which the yarns pass so that the cradle is rotated upon breakage of one yarn to sever the other yarn or yarns between the slots. In Fig. 1, two yarns pass over a fixed guide 11, through the slots in the stud 14 and sleeve 17, through a fixed guide 24, over guides 20, 21 and 22, 23 respectively of the cradle 19 and round a delivery roller 241. Normally the cradle 19 is balanced, describing pivotal movement of low amplitude to compensate small inequalities in the tensions of the two yarns. The yarns pass from the roller 241 through a guide on a pivoted lever 26, Fig. 4, connected by a rod 27 and bellcrank lever 28 to a lever 31 which is pivoted at 32 and carries a trap spring 33. If either yarn breaks between the roller 241 and the twisting unit (not shown) decrease of yarn tension allows the guide 25 to rise, lowering the rod 27 and moving the spring 33 to sever the yarns.
