Abstract
849,459. Spinning &c. and winding machines. BRUCK & ENGELSMANN Ltd. Nov. 11, 1958 [Nov. 21, 1957]. No. 36254/57. Class 120(2). In a spinning &c. or winding machine formation or use of yarn of incorrect twist is prevented by a deflector, which is mounted in the path of a yarn being wound on or drawn off a package to interrupt ballooning of the yarn in one direction but allow passage of yarn ballooning in the reverse direction, and a yarn catcher for holding the deflected yarn. In a winding machine shown, yarn is drawn off a stationary package 10 and through a guide 14 mounted in a rail 22. The balloon of yarn of S-twist rotates in an anticlockwise direction in Fig. 3 and is contacted by an arm 46 of the plate 40 but not interrupted, while yarn of Z twist passes behind the arm 46, is caught in a comb 48 and broken. A. carrier block 26 is adjustably mounted in a bracket 20 by means of a screw 28 and is bored to receive a rod 32. The plate 40 is fixed to the rod 32 and held in one of six radial slots in the face of the block 26 by the action of a spring 34. These slots provide adjustment of the plate 40 for use with balloons of different size or direction of rotation. A number of plates may be connected to a common shaft for simultaneous adjustment. A wire rod may be used in place of the plate 40.
