Abstract
871,473. Hydraulic presses. SCHON & CIE G.m.b.H. Aug. 28, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956; Feb. 26, 1957], No. 27065/57. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] A two-stage hydraulic pump, comprising a pump N and a pump H particularly for feeding an hydraulic press and of the type in which the pump N supplies pressure liquid directly to the press at low pressure until such time as the pressure in the press builds up, after which the pump N acts as a feed pump for the high-pressure pump H, is controlled by a valve V which has an inlet 3 connected to the outlet of the pump N and an inlet 25 connected to the outlet of the pump H; the inlet 3 is connected through a non-return valve 4 to a control valve S and the inlet 25 is also connected to the control valve S the outlet from the control valve being connected to a return passage 7 in the valve V. A valve 9 in the inlet 3 is arranged to be opened when the high pressure in the passage 25 and acting on the piston 10 reaches a predetermined value. When the valve 9 opens the valve 4 closes and liquid passes into a chamber 12 which is connected to a further chamber 14 having a spring- controlled outlet valve 17 or a throttle passage which therefore controls the pressure in the passage 3. Further increase of pressure in the passage 25 acts on a piston 27 connected to a spring-loaded piston valve 15 to move the piston and thereby open the chamber 14 to the passage 7 whereby the outlet from the pump N is wholly returned to the reservoir. In a modification the valves 9, 17, 15 are arranged on parallel axes.
