Abstract
868,018. Valve amplifying circuits. BAILEY METERS & CONTROLS Ltd. March 3, 1960 [March 3, 1959], No. 7329/59. Class 40(6) In an amplifier with direct-current negative feedback means are provided to reduce the feedback of mains ripple voltages generated in the amplifier. The feedback path comprises R9, R11, R13, the feedback being taken from resistor R13 which is adjustable. Mains ripple voltages are passed by condenser Cl to a transistor phase-reverser T1 which injects a balancing ripple voltage of opposite phase into the feedback network via adjustable resistor R15 and blocking condenser C2. The transistor is provided with base bias via resistor R7; alternatively a potentiometer network connected across the collector voltage supply may be used (Fig. 2, not shown). In a further modification, Fig. 3, which removes from the feedback network the effect of leakage current through the condenser C2, which is of the electrolytic type, a further electrolytic condenser, C13, of the reversible type is placed in series with condenser C2. The join is connected via a resistor to a potentiometer R33, R35 across the output terminals of the amplifier, so that there is no D.C. voltage across the condenser C13. A condenser C37 decouples the network for ripple voltages. The Provisional Specification also describes the use of a transformer instead of a transistor as the phase-reversal means.
