Abstract

814,409. Switching systems for consumption apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 19, 1957 [July 19, 1956], No. 22432/56. Class 38 (4). [Also in Groups XXXIX and XL (c)] In a switching circuit two pairs of rectifiers 2, 4 and 3, 5 are arranged in parallel with a transistor 1 in such a manner that the high-impedance direction of the rectifiers corresponds to that of the collector. The circuit is described as applied to an A.C. generator 6 supplying power to a load 10. With switch 13 open battery 12 maintains transistor 1 in the fully conducting condition so that the circuit for the A.C. is completed through the rectifiers 4, 3 or 5, 2 and the emitter-collector path of transistor 1. By closing the switch 13 the base is raised to the potential of the supply 14 thereby causing the emittercollector path to have a high-impedance value and no A.C. flows. A number of transistors and rectifiers may be arranged in parallel or series and it is stated that the transistor may operate as an amplifier.
