Abstract

866,954. Cleaning grain. ROBINSON & SON Ltd., THOMAS. Dec. 17, 1959 úDec: 22, 1958], No. 41271/58. Class 58. [Also in Group II] Grain is separated from stones &c. by an inwardly directed stream of water which deposits the grain in a centrifuge mounted concentrically with the separating device. In the form shown the grain is fed through a funnel 1 into the stone separator 10 where it meets a stream of water fed in at 14. The stones continue to fall and enter a pipe 11 for removal at 12. The water carries the grain over a funnelshaped member 2 into a conical member 3 which directs it to the bottom of the centrifuge 4, the lower part of which is imperforate so that the water washes over the grain. The centrifugal force carries the grain and water up the sloping wall, the upper part of which is perforated so that the water passes through, the grain passing over the top into a channel 6 to be swept by paddles 7, attached to the centrifuge, to the outlets. The centrifuge is connected by spokes 19 to a sleeve 18 driven by a motor 16 through a belt 17.
