784,453. Centrifugal strainer separators. CONSTRUCTIONS GUINARD. Aug. 9, 1955 [Aug. 11, 1954], No. 22924/55. Class 46. In a centrifugal straining and separating machine in which a rotating cone 1 provided with scrapers 2 rotates coaxially within a rotating truncated basket 3 but at a different speed, the scrapers 2 drag the solid along to a washing zone where the positive action of the scrapers does not operate, the conical member 1 carrying helical scrapers 2 which are nicked at 10 to provide the inoperative zone where water discharged from the centre of the cone through passages 9 washes the accumulated solids, preferably against an horizontal conical collar 11 on the cone, before escaping through the perforations 16 of the basket 3. A second series of nicks 15 delays the progress of the washed solids to provide a drying period.
