866,794. Locomotive hydraulic driving gear. SEJKORA, L., RABUS, K., and NOVOTNY, K., [trading as VOITH, J. M. [Firm of]]. Oct. 3, 1957 (Oct. 5, 1956], No. 31070/57. Class 79(2). In a hydraulic transmission. system for spring cushioned axles 8 Fig. 1, at least two fluid drives A, B, associated with each axle together with the spur gear reducer 38, bevel gears 35, 36 and reversing gears 37 are combined in a gear casing divided into two parts 30, 39 by a neck bearing 42 having an axis longitudinal of the vehicle. One part 30 of the casing is supported by the axle 8 and the other part 39 is pivotally mounted on the vehicle frame or bogie on bearings 40 with axes parallel to the drive axle 8 and coincident with a drive input shaft 34. Each unit is driven from a universal joint shaft line 3 rigidly mounted on the frame or bogie and coupled to each shaft 34 through bevel gears 31 in a fixed housing 33. One of the drives A, B, may be hydraulically reduced, or in a modification the drives may be similar and a mechanical reduction gear incorporated in one of them. Each of the drive axles may be coupled to additional drive axles through coupling rods.
