Abstract
865,736. Labelling textile articles. FAWCETT, G. H. R. Feb. 3, 1960 [March 12, 1959], No. 8509/59. Class 73. In a method of labelling textile articles, the labels are woven in end to end series as a strip 1, Fig. 1, so as to have two selvedge edges 4, they are then cut to length along lines 6 and the cut ends 7, Fig. 3, turned in as shown, a piece of material 9 of appropriate size and comprising a woven, knitted or felted material coated or impregnated with a thermoplastic adhesive is then interposed between the label and textile article 10 and the whole subjected to heat and pressure to secure the label. The selvedges 4 and the weave at the ends 5 are such as to give the appearance of lines of fine stitching.
