Class 64(3) A plate for a heat exchanger comprising a heat exchange surface 3 having a passage 9 therethrough for the fluid and being bounded by a packing 2 which extends into at least three of the four corner portions of the plate where ducts for the fluid may be provided. It is stated that when this plate is used in the holding section of a heat exchanger for treating milk and having pasteurizing, holding and regenerative sections, by suitable connection of the corner ducts, a larger heat exchange surface may be provided. The passage 9 extends across a substantial width of the plate and its edges may lie parallel to the packing
