Abstract

859,715. Spinning &c. machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. June 17, 1959 [June 19, 1958], No. 19699/58. Class 120(2). In a spinning &c. machine, to permit bidirectional running without changing the parts and to enable the tape to be installed without piecing, adjacent pairs of spindles on the same side of the machine are driven by a common endless tape, which is trained over two pairs of guide pulleys 15, 16 and 17, 18 to form a loop partly encircling a driving-pulley 14. Of each pair of guide pulleys one is located above and one below the driving-shaft; the lower pulleys are arranged to tension the tape, and the upper pulleys are carried by a bracket 19 so that each has its upper surface in line with the centre of the corresponding wharve, its axis normal to the path of the tape over it, and, in the case of pulley 17, its axis at an angle to the driving-shaft. One or both of the pulleys 16, 18 may be mounted at right angles to the shaft 13 and there may be a separate driving-shaft for each side of the machine arranged on the inside or outside of the machine.
