Abstract

1417687 Knitting machines WESCO INDUSTRIES CORP 28 Jan 1974 [16 April 1973] 03911/74 Heading D1C Yarns are fed to a circular knitting machine by positive feeding devices 16 comprising drums 18 rotatably driven about vertical axes by elements 22 which are mounted at a common height for engagement with a single endless driving belt 20 travelling in a horizontal path, the belt 20 being driven at a speed proportional to the rotary speed of the kniting machine by a driving pulley 26 coupled to the drive of the machine, and in order to render the pulley readily accessible, e.g. for adjustment purposes, the latter is mounted on a horizontal shaft 28 below the level of the elements 22 with the belt 20 guided between its said horizontal path and its vertical run in the region of the pulley by means of idlers 48, 58 and 60. The shaft 28 is coupled by a bevel gear 44, 46 to a shaft 32 which is in turn connected by a chain and sprocket drive 34, 36, 38 to a drive shaft 40 of the machine. The belt 20 may be perforated as shown or non-perforated.
