Driving arrangements; tin-rollers; guards and protectors for threads.- A group of spindles arranged in two parallel rows is driven by a single flat belt 16, which moves up and down with the spindles and is driven by a broad pulley 15 secured to a shaft 30 parallel to the spindles. The belt 16 passes round guide pulleys 18 and round a tension pulley 19 mounted on the spindle carriage, the pulley 19 being so arranged that it can be readily adjusted when it is desired to reverse the direction of rotation of the spindles. The pulleys 15 for the various groups of spindles are driven from a common shaft 33 by helical gears 34, 32. The ring-rail has an upturned flange 37, and from its front edge is suspended a board 38 hinged at 39 to protect the bobbins from lint.
