859,603. Wheel-houses. ROSSLAUER SCHIFFSWERFT VEB. May 22, 1958, No. 16441/58. Class 113. A wheel-house is in two telescopically arranged parts 7, 12 supported on a lazy tongs 2, 3, actuated by an hydraulic mechanism 1, each arm having fixed and movable bearings 5, 6 respectively. Cables 8 which may be secured to the tong arm 2 pass over pulleys 8, 9, 10 and 11 secured to the bottom part 7 and are attached to the part 12. Lowering of the hydraulic mechanism 1 causes the lower part 7 to be lowered with consequential slackening of the cables 8 which allows the upper part 12 to be lowered relative to the lower part. Alternatively the cables 8 may be secured to a drum driven manually through worm gearing to move the upper part 12 separately relatively to the lower part. The cables may also be operated by horizontal pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders.
