Abstract
846,385. Fluid-pressure blasting devices. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Aug. 28, 1957 [Aug. 28, 1956; April 4, 1957], Nos. 26285/56 and 11057/57. Class 9(1). The radially expandable packer 22 disposed about a tube 20 leading to a nozzle 23 of a liquid infusion tube for use in mines at one end abuts a shoulder 21 at the nozzle and is at the other end abutted by a collar 17 at one end ot a cylinder 10 of the same external diameter as the packer when the packer is not being compressed. The cylinder 10 is disposed concentrically of and is axially slidable of the tube 20 with which, within the cylinder, is fixedly associated a piston 3. A port 18 in the tube allows of liquid under pressure to, as it is supplied through the tube, to cause axial compression and radial expansion of the packer. Another embodiment to that shown is also described.
