Abstract

845,113. Filtering gases. BIVAC AIR CO. Ltd., and BERRY, E. D. March 5, 1958 [Dec. 6, 1956], No. 37298/56. Class 8(2). Shaking of a plurality of inward flow outwardly distended gas filter sleeves 5, Fig. 2, having their upper and lower ends secured to a spigot plate 6 and an anchor grid 7 respectively is effected by vertical reciprocation of the anchor grid which is normally biased downwardly by springs 19 or by weights. As shown, the grid 7 is connected by rods 36 passing along the axis of some of the sleeves and through the plate 6 to a frame 8 resting on cams 9 secured to motor driven shafts 11. In a modification, the anchor grid 7, Fig. 4, is coupled by links 30 and levers 29 to shafts 28 driven by air cylinders 25 through link and lever mechanisms 26, 27. In a further modification wherein the anchor grid is weighted the tops of the vertical rods passing through the sleeves are reciprocated by air cylinders located above the filter casing.
