844,901. Toothed gearing. VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECHANIQUES (SAVIEN-LRS) S.A., DE. March 20, 1958 [May 22, 1957], No. 8943/58. Class 80 (1). In an epicyclic gear-train, particularly for machine-tools, the three elements-sun 15, Fig. 1, planet carrier 16 and annulus 12-are detachably attached respectively to the fixed frame 1, the driven shaft 3 and the coaxial driving-shaft 2, the elements being interchangeable to vary the speed ratio. As shown in Fig. 1 the annulus 12 is supported by a circular array of pins 11 fitting corresponding holes in a cheek 9 on a sleeve splined to the driving- shaft 2, and the sun 15 is supported by a similar array of pins 14 fitting holes in the frame 1. The planet carrier 16 is splined to the driven shaft 3. In the Fig. 2 arrangement the carrier 16 has been reversed on its shaft 3 and the positions of the sun 15 and annulus 12 have been interchanged. It is stated that the three elements may be replaced by different elements to give a different speed ratio. Alternatively, the two shafts 2, 3 may be directly coupled by a splined sleeve, Fig. 3 (not shown), after removal of the epicyclic gear elements.
