Abstract

830,736. Magnetic recording heads. VOELK, E., [trading as DISTLER K.G., J.]. Aug. 25, 1958, No. 27237/58. Class 40 (2). A recording method and apparatus is characterized in that a direct biasing field and an alternating signal field are superimposed in such a way that the signals are represented by the variation of magnetization of the record carrier about a zero line 0, Fig. 1, provided by the direct magnetic field. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment in which a magnet 3 carrying signal coils 4 produce a signal flux at gap 2 and serves to produce a vector variation of a transverse direct flux produced at the leading edge of the said gap 2 by a magnet 5 carrying a direct current coil 7. During reproduction the coil 7 is de-energized. Fig. 5 shows an alternative construction in which the various parts are indicated by similar numerals as in the construction in Fig. 2.
