911,518. Magnetic recording &c. heads; associated working. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Dec. 9, 1960 [Dec. 18, 1959], No. 42619/60. Class 40 (2). [Also in Group XXXVI] A Hall plate head has the plate 1 cemented or clamped between a pair of ferrite clocks 2, 3 by a non-magnetic member 8, which also clamps a pair of hard-wearing polepieces 4, 5 which are soldered together around a brass foil forming the transducing gap 6. Coils 12, 13 may be located around the blocks 2, 3 during assembly so that the head may be used also for recording. The whole is encapsulated in thermoplastic resin so that the assembly comprising the polepieces and a lid 9 may be readily removed and replaced. The polepieces may be flanged upwardly as in Fig. 2 to reduce the leakage flux when using the head to record auxiliary lowfrequency signals on the same track as the sound for use with associated film-strip apparatus. In this embodiment, non-magnetic tapeguides 28, 29 are additionally provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification, 782,327.
