Abstract
Monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:0826207/IV(c)/1> where R is the residue of a benzenic diazo component and R1 is the residue of a coupling component are made by conventional methods from the appropriate components corresponding to R and R1. 1,2-Chromium and -cobalt complexes of the above dyes may also be made. Metallization may be effected with a mixture of dyes of the above formula or in the presence of known metallizable monoazo dyes. Indicated as substituents for R are nitro, acetylamino, chloro, methyl and methylsulphonyl groups. Indicated as coupling components are naphthols and pyrazolones such as 2-naphthol, 1-acetylamino-7-naphthol, 1-methanesulphonylamino-7-naphthol, 2 - acetylamino - 6 - naphthol, 41 - hydroxynaphtho - [21,11 : 4,5] - oxathiol - S - dioxide and 1-phenyl and -(21-chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones. The dyes dye wool and wool-like materials by the one-bath chroming process. The metal complexes colour resins, lacquers and plastic materials and print and dye materials of animal origin such as leather wool and silk and synthetic fibres of polyamides and polyurethanes, wool being dyed from a neutral to weakly acid bath. Examples are provided illustrating the preparation of the dyes and their complexes and the use of them both in dyeing processes the components used in dye preparation being chosen from those indicated above with components 1-acetylamino-7-naphthol-3-sulphonic acid and aceto-acetic acid-(3-sulphonamido-phenyl)-amide as additional coupling components.
