2: 1 Chromium and cobalt complexes of general formula <FORM:1096895/C4-C5/1> in which Me is chromium or cobalt, -A-N = N-B- is a radical of a dye of formula <FORM:1096895/C4-C5/2> and -A1-N = N-B1- is a dye of formula above or any mono or disazo dye or azomethine dye which contains a metallizable o,o1-dihydroxy, o,o1-hydroxycarboxy or o,o1-hydroxyamino azo group and at least one water-solubilizing sulphonic acid and/or sulphonic acid amide group and in which R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms (which may be substituted), R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical having 1-4 carbon atoms, R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms, a nitro group, or acylamino group or a halogen atom and n is 1 or 2, are prepared preferably by reacting a dye of the formula above with a cobalt or chromium metallizing agent at 60-130 DEG C., 0.5-0.65 moles of cobalt or chromium metallizing agent preferably being used. An equimolar mixture of a 1: 1 chromium compound of an azo or azomethane dye and a dye of formula below <FORM:1096895/C4-C5/3> may also be used to prepare the new complexes which provide grey, green and navy colours on natural and synthetic polyamides and cellulose.
