Abstract

824,172. Protective cut-out arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. March 26, 1957 [Dec. 28, 1955], No. 37123/55. Class 38 (5). In a rectifying equipment having a number of parallel circuits 4, 5, means for detecting an open-circuit, e.g. due to a blown fuse 2, comprise relay means 11, 13 connected between star points 8, 12 provided by impedances 7, 7a and a further point normally at the same potential as the star points. The further point may be the neutral connection of a supply transformer or be provided by further impedances star-connected to the supply bus-bars. The relay means may comprise individual relays as shown, but a common relay may be connected to two or more star points through half-wave rectifiers, Fig. 2 (not shown). In the latter case, small neon or similar discharge lamps may be connected in parallel with the half-wave rectifiers to indicate the defective circuit, or a switching arrangement may be provided to connect the common relay to the individual star points for testing purposes. Fig. 3 (not shown), illustrates the application of the invention to groups of three-phase bridgeconnected semi-conductor rectifiers. The impedances may comprise high resistances or small capacitances.
