Abstract

234,153. Nicaise, E. Dec. 22, 1923. Drawings to Specification. Cut-out arrangements.-Relates to the protection of polyphase circuits by means of current transformers in each phase the effects of which are compounded by connecting them separately to windings on a single transformer or to separate transformers the secondaries of which are connected together in series through a protective relay. In order to render the protection effective in the case of balanced overloads on all the phases as well as in the case of unbalanced overload due to faulty conditions, one of the windings has a different number of ampere-turns from the other two. The number of windings supplied from each phase, may be different one from another. To deal with faulty conditions when the circuit is open but under tension, resistances or capacities may be switched in between the phases to supply current to energize the protective current transformers and isolate the system when the voltage fails.
