In an endless band conveyer the band of which is equipped with rollers for running on supporting tracks, the roller axle journals are mounted on springs in such manner that the mounting permits arcuate rocking movement of the rollers about an axis parallel to the roller axle and on which the springs are anchored to the band. The band may be an articulated steel plate conveyer band, as shown, or an endless belt supported on transverse carriers secured to its underside and on which tho rollers are mounted. In one embodiment, ment, Fig. 1, each spring is a leaf-spring 5 anchored to a bracket 3 on one of the steel plates 2 of the band and carrying the axle journal of the roller 6 at its free end. The plate 2 may also be connected with its carrying chains 4 through the bracket 3. In a third embodiment, Fig. 3, a leaf-spring 12 extends forwardly from an anchorage pivot-pin 11 on one plate and its other end slidingly engages between a pin 14 and a bracket 15 on an adjacent plate, the bracket 15 being the means of connecting each plate to the chain. The journal 10 of the roller 6 is secured midway between the ends of the spring. By this construction it is said that the spacing between adjacent pairs of rollers along the band can be increased by the length of one plate for a given degree of sag between adjacent rollers, e.g. the rollers may be associated with every fifth plate instead of with every fourth plate in the case of rollers mounted at the pivotal connection points of adjacent plates.
