Abstract

818,006. Two-part couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION [formerly BURNDY ENGINEERING CO. Inc.]. Aug. 16, 1956 [Aug. 25, 1955], No. 25044/56. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXII] An electrical connector body 10, Fig. 3, having a pin portion 12 at one end and a hollow portion 14, 18 at the other end is made by cold forging electrically conductive wire. Pins are formed in a continuous process from extruded copper wire, Fig. 1, which is cold-forged between upper and lower dies 24, 26, Fig. 6, to provide a solid pin portion 12, Fig. 3, and U-shaped hollow portions 20, 22 which are subsequently crimped on a conductor. A series of pins are initially connected together by bridge pieces 30, Fig. 1, and after removal of any flash such as 64, 66, 68, the connector is crimped at 72 to a conductor 70 and simultaneously it is separated. from its adjacent conductor. 'Alternatively the pins may be stored for subsequent connection to conductors. U.S.A. Specification 2,815,124 is referred to.
