Abstract

The invention comprises salts with organic bases of dyestuff of formula <FORM:0814605/IV (c)/1> where X and Y are H, Me or COOH and Z is H or SO3H. They are made by reacting an organic base with a dyestuff obtainable by coupling an appropriate diazotized 4-amino-1,1-azobenzene with the desired pyrazolone. The dyestuffs are used for colouring lacquers and wood stains yielding yellow tints. In examples, the N-dicyclohexylamine salts of (1) 4 - amino - 1,11 - azobenzene--> 1 - (21 - sulphophenyl) - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid; (2) 4 - amino - 1,11 - azobenzene--> 1 - (41 - sulphophenyl) - 5 - pyrozolone - 3 - carboxylic and (3) 4 - amino - 3,21 - dimethyl - 1,11 - azobenzene--> 1 - (21 - sulphophenyl) - 5 - pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid and (4) 4-amino-1,11-azobenzene - 41 - carboxylic acid--> 1 - (21 - sulphophenyl) - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid are made, it being stated that the base of (1) may be replaced by dodecylamine, diphenyl and di-o-tolylguanidines, guanidine, aniline and benzylamine, and in (5) the N-diphenyl guanidine salt of 4-amino-1,11-azobenzene--> 1 - phenyl - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid is made.
