Abstract

The invention comprises salts with organic bases of dyestuffs of formulae <FORM:0763555/IV(b)/1> where X is H or an aryl radicle, Y is an alkyl, phenyl or carboxylic acid, amide or alkyl ester group and Z is H, a halogen atom or an alkyl, trifluoromethyl or sulphonic acid group, the dyestuffs containing at least one sulphonic or carboxylic acid group. They are made by reacting with the base a dyestuff obtainable by coupling the appropriate diazotized 2-nitraniline and pyrazolone. The dyestuff salts dye lacquers and resins in yellow tints and may be used in wood staining compositions. In examples which illustrate the preparation of the salts, the bases used are dicyclohexyl- and dodecyl-amine sulphates, guanidine thiocyanate and diortho-tolyl- and diphenyl-guanidine, aniline and benzylamine hydrochlorides, the diazo components being 2-nitraniline and its 4-sulpho- and chloroderivatives and 3-nitro - 4 - amino - 1-methyl - and trifluoromethyl-benzenes and the coupling components are 1-(21-sulpho-, 61-chloro-21-methyl-41-sulpho, 21-chloro-51-sulpho- and 21-methyl-41-sulpho-phenyl)- and 1-(51, 71-disulpho - 21 - naphthyl) - 3 - methyl - 5-pyrazolones, 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-(21-sulpho-, 41-chloro-21-sulpho- and 21-methyl-41 - sulpho - phenyl - and phenyl - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 carboxylic acids, 1 -(21 - sulphophenyl) - 3 - phenyl - 5 - pyrazolone, 1-phenyl - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid amide and 1 - (61 chloro - 21 - methyl - 41 - sulphophenyl) - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid ethyl ester.
