Abstract

814,186. Wheel rims. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 13, 1956 [June 27, 1955], No. 18226/56. Class 144 (2). To provide for a larger diameter brake drum 2 and pitch circle of wheel mounting holes 4 (or studs 3), the well of a well base rim has a non- uniform radial depth from the bead seats which is least radially adjacent the mounting holes 4 (or studs 3) and greatest at the middle of at least one of the arcs between successive holes 4. As shown the wheel or rim is made in two halves 5, 6 welded together along abutting radial flanges 10 with the well 12 of the rim provided in the half 5 only. The well 12 comprises three circular arcs 13 the junctions A, B, C of which form substantially pointed arches radially outwardly adjacent the three mounting holes 4 provided in the flanges 10. The brake drum 2 housed within the rim half 6 is secured to the rim by the studs 3.
