Class 52(2) In a reclining chair having a back rest 16 and seat 18 pivoted at 20 to a base 10, the leg rest 22 is connected to the seat by a first pair of links 26, 28 pivoted together at 30 and respectively to the rest and seat at 24, 32 and by a second pair of links 36, 38 pivoted together at 40 and respectively to the rest and seat at 34, 42, pivots 34, 42 being respectively below and to the rear of pivots 24, 32. As shown, the pairs of links are interconnected by an extension 44 of links 28 pivoted at 46 to link 36 but they may be interconnected by a rearward extension of link 26 pivoted to an intermediate point of link 38. As shown the leg rest is projected upon rearward pivoting of the back rest 16 by a control lever 48 pivoted to link 28 at 50 and to downward extension 54 of back rest 16 at 52, a guide link 58 being pivoted at 56, 60 to lever 48 and the base 10. In a modification the front end of lever 48 is pivoted to link 38 instead of to link 28. The control lever may be linked to the upper part of back rest 16 (Fig. 3, not shown), instead of extension 54. In a further form (Fig. 4, not shown), the rear end of lever 48 is pivoted to the lower end of an arm the upper end of the arm being pivoted to the base 10 and the arm is swung forwards as the back rest is tilted rearwards by a link connecting it to a bell-crank lever having a pin-andslot connection with the lower part of the back rest. In this form the seat and back rest. are formed as an integral unit. Stops for limiting the rocking motion and locking means for securing the parts in adjusted position may be provided.
