A coaxial relay for selectively connecting a cable socket 15 with either one of sockets 16, 17 comprises a conducting casing 10 into which the inner conductors 18 ... 20 of the sockets project. The movable contact assembly freely mounted on an extension 14 of a solenoid plunger 13 comprises a pair of insulator discs 21, 22 spaced by a Y-shaped insulator 23, each disc carrying an arcuate contact strip 24 or 25. When the solenoid 11 is not energized contact 24 bridges contacts 18, 19, whereas contacts 18, 20 are bridged by contact 25 upon energization of the solenoid. Conductive discs 26, 27 on the insulators 21, 22 are electrically connected with the casing 10 by a spring 30 and rivets 31, these discs and insulators together with contacts 24, 25 forming capacitors of a value such that the impedance of the switching path in the relay equals the characteristic impedance of the connected cables. A pair of stud contacts 28, 29 connected, respectively, with the discs 26, 27 are adapted to engage the contacts 20, 19, so as to short-circuit the inner and outer conductors of that cable not connected to the socket 15.
