Abstract
The invention comprises the partially or entirely coppered complexes of dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0809279/IV (c)/1> where R1 is the radicle of a 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene mono- or di-sulphonic acid coupled o to OH, R2 is as Z or is the residue of any other azo compound coupled o to OH and R1 and R2 must together contain at least 2 SO3H groups. They are made by coupling in an alkaline medium 1 mol. of tetrazotized 4,41-diamino-3,31 - dimethoxy - 1,11 - diphenyl in either order with 1 mol. of the dyestuff corresponding to Z or preferably its copper complex and 1 mol. of the component corresponding to R2 with subsequent coppering in substance or on the fibre. R2 is preferably Z or its copper complex or a residue of a phenol, naphthol-mono-, -di- or tri-sulphonic acid, a dihydroxy-naphthalene-mono-or di-sulphonic acid, an acylaminonaphthol sulphonic acid, a 1-aryl-5-pyrazolone which may be sulphonated or an acetoacetylamino compound. The dyestuffs dye cotton and regenerated cellulose in blue-grey to green-grey shades. In examples which illustrate the preparation of the dyestuffs and their use in dyeing processes R2 is derived from 1-naphthol-3,6- and -3,8-di- and -3,6,8-tri-sulphonic acids, 2-naphthol-4-mono- and -3,6-di-sulphonic acids, 2-benzoylamino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid, 4-methyl- and 4-methyl - 2 - acetyl - and sulphoacetyl - amino - phenols, acetylacetone, acetoacetylaminobenzene and its 4-sulphonic acid, 2-acetoacetylaminonaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid, barbituric acid, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-21, -31- and -41-mono- and -21,41-di-sulphonic and -31-carboxylic acids, 1-naphthyl (21)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone - 61 - sulphonic acid, 1 - phenyl - 5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid and 1,5-dihydroxy - 2 - (11,81 - dihydroxy) - naphthyl (21)-azonaphthalene - 7,31 - and - 7,41 - di - and -7,31,61-tri-sulphonic acids, R1 being derived from 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3- and -4-mono-and -3,6-di-sulphonic acids.
