Abstract

Polyazo dyes are made by diazotizing aminoazo dyes of the type <FORM:0464827/IV/1> (B = the residue of a coupling component which may be alkylated), coupling with a middle component which contains in o-position to the further diazotizable amino group a group capable of being metallized, further diazotizing and finally coupling with a component which contains in o-position to the coupling position a group capable of being metallized and which may be further diazotizable and capable of further combination. The following dyestuffs are described in examples: (1) the methylated and reduced monoazo dye, 4-nitro-2 : 2<1>-disulphostilbene-4<1>-azophenol --> 1-amino-2-naphtholethylether - 6 - sulphonic acid --> N - m - carboxyphenyl J acid (bluish green on cotton, fast yellowish green when coppered); (2) 1-acetylamino-8-naphthol-4-sulphonic acid is used as final component in (1). Other starting aminoazo dyes are those obtained by reducing 4-nitro-4<1>-aminostilbene-2 : 2<1>-disulphonic acid --> salicylic acid, arylamides of acetoacetic acid or pyrazolones.
