808,059. Impact pulverizers; reducing coal. KOHLENSCHEIDUNGS-G. m. b. H. July 5, 1957 [August 17, 1956], No. 21439/57. Class 59 In a striking-wheel type pulverizer operated with gas separation and return of the grit particularly for the pulverization of brown coal, in which the mixture of pulverized material and conveying air or gas is ejected from the pulverisation chamber against a baffle 7 and in which the grit is separated from the mixture by subsequent reversal of the path of flow of the mixture and returned via a separator 6 and shoot 9 to the pulverization chamber, the mixture is periodically kept away from the baffle 7, to prevent obstruction of the pulverizer, by means of a baffle 11 when the latter is in an inclined position, and is discharged through the outlet 10 with a decreasing deflection in the path of flow. The flap 11 is adjustable by lever mechanism 12 which is automatically controlled e.g. by a time-switch mechanism, from a pressure gauge, or from a feeler which re-acts to changes in the temperature in the separator or in the temperature obtaining in the ducts adjoining the separator and carrying the pulverized material. The striking-wheel comprises vanes 3 disposed between a disc 1 and an annulus 2 of equal external diameter.
