634,272. Conveyers. EUROPEESCHE FULLER VERVOER-MAATSCHAPPIJ N. V. Dec. 24, 1947, No. 34229. Convention date, May 15, 1941. [Class 78 (i)] An apparatus for spraying dust material by feeding the material from a hopper into a stream of compressed air in which the hopper is provided with an extension in the form of a cylindrical barrel along which the material is fed by a rotating feed shaft which also extends through the hopper and has one set of screw flights for feeding the material into the barrel and a second set for feeding it along the barrel after which the material passes through the discharge end of the barrel and into the chamber where it becomes entrained in the air stream. The dust is fed from a hopper 1 into a cylindrical barrel 5 by means of a screw shaft 6 carrying two sets of screw flights 10, 11. The hopper has a bearing housing 2, into which a steady stream of compressed air is admitted through a pipe 27 from a hose 23 connected to nozzles 22 to prevent blow back past the bearing seat 9. Compressed air is also admitted to the hopper by nozzles 25 controlled by valves 26 to aerate the dust. The rate of discharge of dust is controlled by a sliding plate 18 having a central orifice and the exit for discharge is controlled by a flap valve 14. The pitch of the screw decreases along the shaft and the end is short of the discharge end so that a compacted mass is formed. The dust enters an entraining chamber 12 into which the nozzles 22 project and is discharged through an orifice 24 which is connected to a hose.
